Cliff Genge capitalized on his opportunities for a Rush-Henrietta squad which won nine games and advanced to the Class AA sectional semifinals as the No. 6 seed. In 13 games, the 6-foot-1 senior recorded seven hits, including a double, four runs batted in, a .361 on-base percentage and a .267 slugging percentage.
Genge scored six runs, drew four walks and was hit by two pitches.
On the mound, the 6-foot-1 senior posted one win and two saves in eight appearances, including five starts. Genge fanned 32 batters, finished with a 2.76 earned run average in 33 innings pitched and hurled one complete game.
Defensively on the mound and in the infield, Genge only committed a pair of errors and posted a .818 fielding percentage. He collected three assists and six put outs as well.
Genge will continue his baseball career at Niagara County Community College.
Rush-Henrietta’s nine victories included wins over state semifinalist Canandaigua and sectional runner-up Penfield.
