Gino Pellett was one of the best hitters on a Spencerport squad which won nine games and advanced to the Class A1 sectional quarterfinals as the No. 7 seed. The senior infielder collected 25 hits in 72 at-bats (.347 batting average) in 2019, including four doubles and a home run. Pellett’s lone home run came on May 9th against Webster Thomas.
Pellett’s batting average, doubles total and hits total all ranked second on the team. He finished second on the squad in both plate appearances (79) and runs batted in (12). Pellett was third in both on-base percentage (.405) and slugging percentage (.444) as well. The senior infielder added 11 runs scored, six walks, two stolen bases and one hit by pitch.
Pellett’s best game of the season was on April 17th against Pelion (South Carolina) at the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. In the 11-10 victory, he swatted three doubles and drove in a run.
On the mound, Pellett fanned 18 batters in 26 innings. Defensively in the infield, he only committed eight errors in 55 total chances (.855 fielding percentage). Pellett recorded 18 put outs and 29 assists as well.
Spencerport’s nine victories included wins over Class B1 sectional champion Batavia and Class A state semifinalist Canandaigua.
