Sam Velletri anchored the lineup of a Brockport squad which won eight games and advanced to the Class A1 sectional quarterfinals as the No. 8 seed. The 6-foot senior recorded 26 hits in 72 at-bats (.361 batting average) in 2019, including seven doubles and a triple.

Velletri’s batting average, base knocks and doubles all paced the Blue Devils. He led the team in slugging percentage (.486), ranked second in on-base percentage (.403) and third in both plate appearances (77) and RBI (nine). Velletri scored 14 runs, drew five walks and swiped three bags as well.

Defensively, Velletri only committed a pair of errors in 91 total chances (.978 fielding percentage). He turned 10 double plays, recorded 40 put outs and 49 assists as well.

Brockport’s eight wins included victories over sectional semifinalists Greece Odyssey, Hilton and Pittsford Mendon.
