Mark Neu produced in his first varsity season on a Spencerport squad which had a four-win improvement and advanced to the Class A1 sectional quarterfinals as the No. 7 seed.
The senior, who was set to be the Rangers starting catcher, led the team in plate appearances (82), was third in base knocks (23), fifth in both batting average (.307) and slugging percentage (.346), tied for fifth in RBI (eight) and eighth in on-base percentage (.366). Neu collected a double and a triple, swiped four stolen bases, drew seven walks and scored 10 runs as well while playing all 22 games.
Defensively, Neu only committed a pair of errors in 66 total chances (.970 fielding percentage) between centerfield and catcher. He was a part of two double plays, had eight assists and produced 56 put outs.
After going 5-15 in 2018, Spencerport finished 2019 with a 9-13 record and won four straight games in the middle of the season.
