Pittsford Mendon sophomore Danielle Strauf played a key role in the Vikings’ 2019-20 season, which included the program’s fourth straight Section V Class A championship and a 21-3 record. Strauf averaged 9.6 points, five rebounds, six assists, 2.4 steals and 0.5 blocks.

Strauf shot 41 percent (61-for-150) from the field and 32 percent (21-for-65) from three. She also made 75 percent (45-for-60) of her free throws. The 5-foot-10 guard netted 21 points against Brockport, which was her best mark of the season. She also made five threes in that game.

The rising junior was a key ballhandler for the Vikings and rewarded them with a 2.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. Her season-best assist total was eight against Brighton. Strauf, who was named 15th-Team All-State, had seven boards against Williamsville South (VI), seven steals against East and two blocked shots against Greece Athena. She also drew three charges on the season.

In addition to being included on an All-State team, Strauf was also named to the Monroe County Division III Second-Team. She returns to Mendon along with fellow backcourt mates Lexi Green and Anaya Coleman. She will play for the WNY Lakers during the AAU season.
