Sean Smith helped Northstar Christian Academy reached the 19-game win mark for the fifth straight time and set the stage for another big season from the Knights.
The six-foot guard averaged 16.7 points per game, scoring nearly three points better than a year ago. Smith shot 50.5 percent (128-of-253) from the field, 40.7 percent (42-of-103) from deep, and 68.4 (50-of-73) from the charity stripe.
Smith ranked second on his team in scoring, only behind sophomore Ryan Garwood who averaged 20.1 points per game.
The junior did it all for Northstar, averaging 7.3 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. He took care of the ball while dishing it out with a 3:1 assist/turnover ratio.
Smith had his season-high in points in a 90-83 win against Buffalo East, where the guard posted 25 points in the win. On January 23rd, the junior posted a triple-double in a 107-51 win against Global Concepts. Smith had 16 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds in the win. That day also marked the season-high in assists and rebounds for Smith.
Smith and Garwood both return along with fellow rotation players Turner Harris and Andrew Newcombe.
Smith plays AAU basketball for HOPE.
