Pittsford Mendon sophomore Anaya Coleman was a member of the Vikings’ backcourt that led the squad to a 21-3 record and a Section V Class A championship, the program’s fourth straight title. Coleman averaged 11.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 0.5 blocks during the 2019-20 season.
Coleman was Pittsford Mendon’s third-leading scorer and an efficient option. She shot 46 percent from the field, 28 percent from three and 70 percent from the free throw line. She held a double-digit scoring average despite her season-high being 17 points against Greece Arcadia. The rising junior had her season-best assist and steal totals against Brighton, notching six assists and eight steals. Also, Coleman grabbed seven rebounds against Victor.
The 5-foot-6 guard returns to the Mendon lineup next season along Danielle Strauf and Lexi Green. Coleman was named to the Monroe County Division III second team and plays AAU for the Syracuse Royals and is starting to develop interest from Division I and Division II programs.
