Irondequoit junior Leah Memmott was a key scorer for the 19-4 Eagles, who lost in the Section V Class A championship game as the top seed. Memmott averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks en route to being named to the Monroe County Division II First-Team.
Memmott scored nine points per game while serving as a three-point specialist. She shot 34 percent (59-for-172) from beyond the arc and 42 percent (11-for-26) inside it. Overall, the junior guard made 35 percent (70-for-198) of her field goal attempts and 67 percent (8-for-12) of her free throw attempts.
She scored a season-high 20 points against Churchville-Chili, while also making six threes in that contest. The only other time Memmott drained six treys in a game was against Hilton, when her final made three was the game-winner with 1.2 seconds left.
While Memmott did a lot of damage from the three-point line, her 1.62 assist-to-turnover ratio showed she was more than just a shooter. She had a season-best three assists against Hilton. The rising senior also ripped down seven rebounds and grabbed three steals against Webster Thomas.
In addition to her on-court achievements, Memmott holds a 96 GPA and hopes to major in psychology in college. She plays for the Rochester Warriors during AAU season.
