Luke Insley has a chance to make Webster Schroeder boys’ basketball program history next season. The 5-foot-11-inch junior has scored 805 total career points. He would become the first player to ever reach the century mark in points scored for his school. Brandan Gartland was the closest scoring 986 total points.
Insley averaged 13.4 points a game this past season by scoring 255 points over 19 games. He scored double figures in 16 out of the 19 games during 2019-20, including three 20-point games.
The junior shot 42.5 percent (92-of-226) from the field, 25.6 percent (21-of-82) from the 3-point line, and 76.1 percent (54-of-71) from the free-throw line this season.
Insley got his season-high February 15th in Brighton when he finished with 26 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the win that stopped an eight-game losing streak for Schroeder.
The co-captain had himself another big game against Brockport on December 7th when he collected 23 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals to lead Schroeder to a 54-50 win.
Along with the scoring, the junior added 3.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and one steal per contest. Schroeder graduated four seniors and will have 11 returning players from this year’s varsity team.
Some Division III colleges have reached out regarding Insley who plays AAU for Beast Nation.
