Penfield junior Haley Emmick was the fourth option for a Patriots’ squad that finished 20-3 and came just short of a Section V Class AA sectional title. Emmick averaged 7.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 blocks for the Patriots.

The 6-foot-1 forward registered three double-doubles on the season, with two of them coming during sectional play. She had a career-high 15 points to go with 10 rebounds and seven steals in Penfield’s quarterfinal win over Webster Thomas. In the semifinal against Our Lady of Mercy, Emmick notched her career-high in rebounds with 14 and scored 12 points. Her regular season double-double was also against Webster Thomas. She posted 11 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in that game.
Emmick’s five blocked shots against Webster Thomas tied a season high. She posted that number two other times during the season. She also was a solid distributor as a forward, dishing out a season-high seven assists against Fairport. The third-year varsity player was third on the Patriots in minutes played and second in +/-. Penfield was +324 with Emmick on the floor.
Emmick was named to the Monroe County Division I second team. She also plays lacrosse for Penfield and AAU basketball with her Penfield team. Penfield graduates leading scorer Nyara Simmons (17.1 ppg) along with Baylee Teal (11.3) and Jessica Rinere (10.2).
