Luke Melidona held the ball on the left wing late in the first quarter as Keenan Robertson cut backdoor from the other wing. Irondequoit’s Connor Shafer set a screen for Robertson, who rose up as Melidona lobbed the ball toward the rim.
Minutes earlier, Robertson had leaped before smacking to the hardwood, hyper-extending his right knee. It wasn’t immediately obvious he’d make it back to the game. But then there he was, in mid-air, snatching Melidona’s pass and throwing it down. READ MORE.

Maurice McKinney led all scorers with 22 points and dished seven assists to as Leadership moves on to the Class A1 semi-finals to face Eastridge. Kennyh Hardeman had all of his 16 points in the first half and snagged 10 rebounds. Shamir McCullough put up 15 points with three deep range shots and seven dimes. Ray Boyd (9), Calvin Washington (3), and Ja’mez Aiken (2) rounded out the scoring for Leadership. Mike Contestabile scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half for Spencerport. Patrick Uebelacker netted 13 points with six of them coming in the fourth quarter. Gino Pellett hit two three pointers and netted 11 points. Ben Reding (8), Alex Anderson (5), Jon Taylor (4) and Bryon Streb (1) rounded out the scoring for Spencerport.

Tony Arnold led all scorers with 23 points, 11 in the second quarter. When Arnold was on the bench with foul trouble, classmate Jalen Rose Hannah stepped up. Hannah produced 17 points, including four three-pointers. Hannah recorded eight first-quarter points, hitting two threes to get him started. Jackson Green and Jacob Shadders combined for 20 second-quarter points as Mendon outscored Brockport 29-16 during the stanza to take a 13-point lead into halftime. Shadders connected twice from long range during the second while Green converted four of five free throws. The Vikings put away the game in the third when they outscored Brockport 20-7. Shadders finished with 22 points to go with nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. Green had 19 points and six rebounds. Caleb Arena scored 11. Nate Strauf added eight. Luke Hoyser had five. Kidder Lindley and Kyle Hennessey contributed three apiece. Isaiah Cotton scored two points. Mendon beat Brockport three times this season. The Vikings will face Irondequoit in the Class A1 semi-finals. The two schools have combined to win the past three A1 titles. Mendon took last year’s championship and advanced to the NYS finals. Irondequoit claimed the 2017 and 2018 crowns and won the 2017 NYS Class A championship. Matt Rennie paced Brockport with 11 points. Shamar Lee and Sma Velletri both scored eight. Troy Leibert and Esten Schalge added six apiece. Kevin Lawrenz had five points. Ryan Sigillo converted a free throw.

Damani Barley, Kaori Barley and Kai McCullough each hit a three-pointer during a 15-0 run in the second period. Damani Barley netted a foul shot while Zechariah Harris-Scott completed a three-point play and knocked down a floater to give the Eagles a commanding 26-9 advantage. Adonis Flagler and Lamar Lovelace scored 25 points apiece as NE Douglass advanced to face Wayne in the Class A2 semi-finals. Flagler drained three from beyond the arc, snagged 12 boards and had four assists. Lovelace hit four threes, had eight rebounds and four dimes. After trailing 26-14 after the first quarter, NE Douglass outscored Northstar 22-7 in the second quarter and led the rest of the way. Tyrnzeir Parker had 12 rebounds and was terrific on the defensive end. Nicolas Jeanty (8), Jayden Berry (7) and Delzair Hanks (2) rounded out the scoring for NE Douglass. Turner Harris led NorthStar with 21 points. Ryan Garwood nailed three deep range shots and finished with 18 points. Sean Smith added 13 points. Andrew Newcombe (8), Gage Wheaton (3) and Khalil Iverson (2) rounded out the scoring for NorthStar.

Nate McKenna scored 13 of his game-high 26 points in the second quarter and nailed five three pointers to lead Wayne over HF-L. Wayne will face NorthStar in the Class A2 semi-finals. Mason Blankenberg had 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. Tyler Reynolds netted 16 points. Elijah Schichtel (6) and Devon Forrest (2) rounded out the scoring for Wayne. Patrick Lustyk led HF-L with 23 points and hit three treyballs. Josh Vogt and Nolan Smith netted 15 points apiece. Mason Wanzenreid (6), Hayden Smith (4) and Reece Joint (2) rounded out the scoring for HF-L.

The Pittsford Sutherland Knights were in an unusual predicament: up three in a close game on the road with the home squad having one last chance to tie. They had two options: either intentionally foul to prevent a shot or play out the remaining 17.3 seconds.
However, the Knights were out of timeouts and, with no time to draw up a gameplan, decided on the latter. Fortunately, it worked out for John Nally’s squad as they forced a missed three-pointer, Ben DiGiovanni hauled in his eighth board and flung the rock to the other side of the court before being fouled. The buzzer sounded and the Knights celebrated a 50-47 grind-out win over School of the Arts. READ MORE.

Josh Green went 6-for-6 from the free throw line and scored 16 points to lead Newark over Batavia in an overtime victory. Newark will face in the Class B1 semi-finals. Devin Agosto added 14 points and scored six in overtime. Blade Case netted 14 points and nailed three shots from beyond the arc. Dustin Case finished with 12 points. Raeshawn Howard (5) and Isaiah Camp (2) rounded out the scoring for Newark. Cam White scored a game-high 17 points for Batavia. Zach Gilebarto added 16 points and Alex Hale netted 14 points with four threes. Stone Silverling (9) and Caeden White (2) rounded out the scoring for Batavia.

Zach Colvin and Nick Rowland registered a double-double apiece as Avon advanced to face Penn Yan in the Class B2 semi-finals. Rowland finished with game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds. Colvin collected 11 points and 12 boards. Teammate Tyler Dailey added eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Andrew Rowland had five points, six rebounds and five assists. Avon led 62-21 at halftime. Frankie Bisceglie paced Attica with 14 points.

Liam McKinley accounted for six of his game-high 23 points during the second quarter when Wellsville outscored Mynderse 18-5 to take a 17-point into halftime. McKinley connected twice from behind the 3-point arc during quarter. Part of an overall effort which saw the sophomore guard hit four times from long range. Teammate Max Jusianiec added 19 points. Logan Dunbar scored nine. Eli Schmidt had six. Aidan Hart, Brandon Delahunt, Tim Jone and Alex Perkins each scored two points. Noah Chaffee converted a free throw. Wellsville will face Wayland-Cohocton in the Class B2 semi-finals. Dylan Larizza paced Mynderse with eight points. Jared King, Troy Kabat and Miek Bogart each scored six points. Colton Dillon scored 13 of his game-high 41 points in the third quarter when Elba turned a single-digit lead into a double-digit advantage. Dillon connected six times from the floor including one 3-pointer during the quarter as the Lancers took a 61-46 lead into final period. Elba will play Bradford in the Class D2 semi-finals. Greyson Huntington added 12 points for Elba. Collin O’Halloran had eight. Zach Marsceill contributed nine points. CJ Gottler (5), Jakob Belluscio (4), Caleb Scouten (3) and Andrew Hare (1) also scored Elba. Jimmie Clarke paced Destiny with 28 points. Leda Marrassa and Mark Hart scored 11 apiece. Traver Chandler added five points. Naveire Hamilton (4) and Colin Edlin (3) rounded out the scoring for Destiny.

Mason Putnam scored a career high 52 points as Prattburgh advanced to meet Romulus in the Class D2 semi-finals. Putnam eclipsed his previous high of 51 and connected on nine 3-pointers in the effort. The Vikings got out to a 29-13 lead after eight minutes as Putnam poured in 16 points, feeding off a packed crowd in Prattsburgh. READ MORE.
