Lexi Green scored 19 of her career-high 35 points in the first half to help Pittsford Mendon jump out to a 37-22 lead at the break. The Vikings went on to beat Honeoye Falls-Lima 81-43 in Class A girls quarter-final action, Saturday.
Green’s first bucket of the game was a three and was the only one from behind the arc she made all game. She ended up making 12 twos in the game and also went 8-for-9 from the charity stripe in the game.
Katie Bischoping did most of the work from downtown for Pittsford Mendon, netting four threes. The senior guard knocked down two in the first quarter and two in the fourth. Bischoping ended with 14 points. Danielle Strauf went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and poured in 11 points. Anaya Coleman came a point shy of double figures with nine.
Sabrina Engin (5), Kacie Mooney (3), Ellen Henry (2) and Eliza Ryan (2) also pitched into the Vikings’ offensive effort.
Pittsford Mendon’s defense also played a key role, as it didn’t allow any players for Honeoye Falls-Lima to hit double digits. Mari Spitz led the way for the Cougars with eight points. Hannah Selke contributed seven points, Olivia Friedlander had six and Leah Samson notched five. Elise Lupisella (4), Ali McLane (3), Hailey Sackoor (3), Teagan Kamm (2), Danielle Fisk (2), Lexie Schiedel (2) and Ana Youngblut (1) also scored for Honeoye Falls-Lima.
Pittsford Mendon advances to the Class A semifinals with the victory. They’ll take on No. 6 East on Tuesday, March 3 at 6 PM. That game will take place at Eastridge HS.
