Selects Academy 19U fell to Honeybaked 19U in a 1-0 loss Friday. Selects couldn’t match the Honeybaked goal in this low scoring defensive battle. Selects defense allowed only 7 shots on goalie Shelbi Düster, but the offense couldn’t turn things around.

Selects netminder Emily Finach stopped 16 of 18 shots Friday in a close 3-2 victory over Dallas Stars Elite. Sophia Kyrkostas hammered Selects first goal, assisted by Riley Calhoun and Kirsten Simms. Mia Coene found the back of the net for Selects second goal on a look from Haley Winn. Ashley Messier put the Stars Elite away on the go ahead third goal, assisted by Caroline Harvey and Mary Kate O’Brien.

Selects’ strong defensive effort earned them a 3-0 win over Meijer 19U Saturday afternoon. Selects allowed only four shots on goalie Emily Finach. Selects peppered Meijer goalie Angela Hawthrone 31 times. Ellie Marcovsky put Selects on the board with help from Kirsten Simms and Haley Winn. Valerie Hache scored goal number two, assisted by Ashley Messier and Mia Coene. Mary Kate O’Brien’s final unassisted goal snuffed the chance of a Meijer comeback.

Selects’ Mia Coene put up the team’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to Bell Tire Saturday evening. Coene’s goal was assisted by Caroline Harvey and Ashley Messier, bringing both Coene and Messier’s point totals to 3 for the weekend. Goalie Shelbi Düster stopped 9 of Belle Tire’s 12 shots.
