BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Sara Nady bypassed the 1000 career point mark on the road on the way to topping the University of Bridgeport, 64 – 48.
On Friday, Nady was an impact player on Friday night at they took on Queens College where she scored 14 points for the Redhawks and ended the game with 999 points headed into todays game. Today, the senior put up 12 points for the Redhawks as well as two rebounds and four assists earning her their 1000th career point accolade.
In the first quarter Roberts opened up with a jump shot from Emily Miller helping the Redhawks be the first to get on the board. By the end of the first the teams were in a tight game 6-5 in favor of Roberts.
The Redhawks were stronger from field in the first half hitting 10-of-32 (31.3%) while Bridgeport was only good for 6-of-28 (21.4%) giving Roberts a 22-19 point advantage ending the first half.
Roberts started to run away with the game in the third quarter putting up 21 points in comparison to the Knights 16, the five point edge gave Roberts the momentum they needed to move to their largest lead in the fourth quarter of 16 points off of a layup from Emily Miller.
Taryn Wilson picked up her first double double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds and was among the four Redhawks who scored in the double digits. Miller lead the Redhawks in total points with 17, Nady with 12, and Dimitra Gkizani with 11.
The team has now moved to 4-6 in the conference and will be back home as they take on Mercy College on Friday. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
