WALTHAM, MA – Host Brandeis University used a big fourth quarter, both defensively and from the free throw line to rally past the University of Rochester women’s basketball team 60-50 on Friday night at Red Auerbach Arena.
Brandeis (11-2, 1-1 UAA) was a perfect 10-10 in free throw attempts in the final ten minutes while also shooting 5-9 (56%) from the floor in that span. On defense, the Judges held Rochester (6-7, 0-2 UAA) to just 18% shooting in the fourth quarter, and no made three pointers.
Overall, the game was tight through three quarters, with the Yellowjackets holding a two point lead 41-39, in a typical UR-Brandeis low scoring affair.

Rochester’s leading scorer on the night was Alexis Sestric who scored 15 points off the bench. Forness added seven points and five rebounds while Lindemuth chipped in six points and three assists.
Neither Brandeis’ nor UR’s starting five were able get into any rhythm offensively, as both benches ended up scoring more than half of their teams points. The Yellowjacket bench scored 37 points, while the Judges reserves poured in 33.
Leading the way for Brandeis was Katherine Puda who had 12 points. Samira Abdelrehim ended with ten points and six boards while Lauren Rubinstein finished with nine points.
Up next for Rochester is a trip to New York University on Sunday for a 2 pm tip, while Brandeis remains at home and will play Emory.
