Selects Academy at Bishop Kearney 19U got back on track after the last two games, their only consecutive losses of the season, netting a 10-0 win against the Gilmour Academy 16U Friday night at Nichols Prep. Caroline Harvey and Kirsten Simms led Selects with three points apiece.
Mary Kate O’Brien scored with ten minutes to go in the first period off a feed from Caroline Harvey, initiating a lead Selects would maintain the entire game. Harvey then scored with three seconds remaining on an assist from Valerie Hache to put Selects two goals ahead.
Momentum steadily built for Selects with another two goals in the second period. Gilmour remained quiet. Kirsten Simms found Maddy Coene midway through the period to put Selects up 3-0. Another last minute goal with eighteen seconds left sent the squad to intermission with a significant four goal lead, this one coming from Sophia Kyrkostos and assisted by Mia Coene.
Selects never slowed, finding the back of the net 6 times in the final period as Gilmour failed to rally. Mary Kate O’Brien tucked her second goal of the game, Hailey Winn and Kristen Simms both scored twice in the third, and Ellie Reiter capped off the night with a late unassisted effort with less than a minute and a half left.
