ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women’s basketball team fell in their home opener to Franklin Pierce University 61-48 Friday night.
The Ravens started the game on a 17-6 run in the first quarter and it wasn’t until the 3rd quarter that the Redhawks tied it up 34-34 with 3:47 remaining. Teams went point-for-point until a steal by Izzy Lipinski led to a late layup giving the Ravens a two point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Roberts was then outscored 21-10 in the fourth quarter, ending the game 61-48 handing the Redhawks the loss.
Madison McCormick was the leading scorer for the Redhawks with 10 points. The freshman also had two rebounds and an assist. Emily Miller finished with eight points, three steals, four rebounds, and three assists.
The Redhawks were 16-of-56 from the field (28.6%) while the Ravens were 24-of-58 (41.4%).
The women’s basketball team will continue play tomorrow Saturday, November 8th against Stonehill College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
