BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a pivotal East Coast Conference matchup to determine post season seeding the Roberts Wesleyan men’s soccer team came up short on the road against the University of Bridgeport, 5-0 on Saturday.

The Purple Knights got on the board quickly with a goal in the 4th minute and added a second goal in the first half in the 21st minute.

The offense for Bridgeport continued to attack and scored three more goals in the second half to take a commanding five goal lead. Roberts could not muster up the offensive chances it wanted with only four total shots and two on goal.

The loss will drop the Redhawks into the No. 3 seed in the ECC Championships where the team will have to travel on the road to take on the No. 2 seed. The matchup will likely be the Redhawks taking on Bridgeport again.

The Redhawks finished the regular season with a 9-7-1 record and 5-3 conference record. Roberts will play in the conference post season for the first time.
