Yellowjackets lock up Keuka for win

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Rochester scored three times in the second half to secure a 3-0 men’s soccer victory over Keuka College on Saturday afternoon.

Zach Lawlor (Aquinas) scored early in the second period (51:49) knocking home a rebound after James Barata’s shot was saved by Keuka goalkeeper Stephen Cowulich. Caden Dowd made it 2-0 in the 70th minute with Cristian Baltier picking up the assist.

With Rochester counterattacking in the final minute, Cowlulich was whistled for a foul in the penalty area, awarding the Yellowjackets a spot kick. Tony Hypsher scored on the shot for the 3-0 final.

The Yellowjackets held a 13-2 edge on shots overall, 7-0 in shots on goal. Rochester earned nine corner kicks to two for the Wolves.

In goal, Hugh Curran picked up the shutout for the Yellowjackets. Cowulich made four saves for Keuka.

On Tuesday, Rochester will play at RIT in the Community Shield match at 4 p.m. The Yellowjackets will host Vassar on September 14 and SUNY Geneseo on September 17.
