FAIRPORT RED RAIDERS (Class AA)
Last season: Finished 11-4-1 and fell to Rush-Henrietta in the Class AA quarterfinals.
Coach: Gianni Bussani (316-114-41/25th year).
Top returners: Kingsley Malcom (Sr. F), Ryan Collins (Sr. MF), Jude Rouhana (Jr. MF).
Next game: Thursday, September 5th at Penfield. (Current record 1-0-1).
Outlook: Can the Red Raiders repeat on recent successes with a relatively young, yet talented, squad?
HILTON CADETS (Class AA)
Last season: Finished 15-3-2, Class AA Sectional Champions.
Coach: Mike Ellicott (51-21-5/fifth season).
Top returners: Josh Ranke (Sr. MF), Brett Wilkins (Jr. MF), Andrew Cavuoto (Sr. GK).
Top newcomers: Andrew Leckinger (Jr. MF).
Next game: Saturday, September 7th at Webster Schroeder. (Current record (1-1-0).
Outlook: Only three top players return from the 2018 championship team. However, with their leadership and motivation to get back there, will the Cadets be able to take the league, or more, again this season?
PENFIELD PATRIOTS (Class AA)
Last season: Finished 7-10, lost to Rush Henrietta in Class AA semifinals.
Coach: John Cotsonas (24th season).
Top returners: Joe Vogt (Jr. D – three-year starter, earned All-County and All-Tournament Team honors), Cullen Masters (Sr. MF – Captain, three-year starter, All-County), Joe McCusker (Sr. F), Tahj Mounnarat (Jr. MF – three years on varsity), Shane McMillan (So. F).
Top newcomers: Cristiano Mounnarat (Fr. F), Omer Atkas (So. D).
First game: Thursday, Sept. 5 vs. Fairport
Outlook: The Patriots are returning three three-year players, including two All-County honorees, all while coming off of a semifinal loss. Can the experienced leaders fuel the Penfield squad to become in a threat within the league?
VICTOR BLUE DEVILS (Class AA)
Last season: Lost to Penfield in overtime in the Class AA quarterfinals.
Coach: Steve Fish (152-149-25/20th season).
Top returners: Justin Graham (Sr. – led time in goals), Max Fiorica (Jr. – MF), Alex Newton (Sr. MF/D).
Top newcomers: Tristan Gilbert (So. MF), Thomas Gravino (Fr.).
Next game: Thursday, September 5th vs. Webster Schroeder. (Current record 2-0-0).
Outlook: Despite the early season, Coach Fish is impressed by the strong culture of his team. With the Blue Devils playing “like brothers and [supporting] each other on and off the field,” can they work their way to the top of the league?
RUSH-HENRIETTA COMETS (Class AA)
Last season: Finished 9-8-2 and lost to Hilton in the Class AA finals.
Next game: Saturday, September 7th vs. Penfield.
WEBSTER SCHROEDER WARRIORS (Class AA)
Last season: Finished 7-8-1, lost to Edison Tech in the Class AA quarterfinals.
Next game: Thursday, September 5th at Victor.
