In a game that featured four lead changes, Jacob Heredia’s (Monroe CC) RBI single in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference as the Wings advanced to Thursday’s Interstate Collegiate Baseball League (ICBL) Championship game. Tied at six Jim Marasco (Nichols College) walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Heredia, who had struck out in both of his previous at bats, connected on a two-out base hit for the eventual game winner. Thomas Pasquale (St. John Fisher College) worked a scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win. Justin Graham (St. John Fisher College) retired all three batters he faced in the seventh for the save.

Scoring opened in the bottom of the first when Stephen Edgett (St. John Fisher College) walked, and Graham tripled him home. Graham later scored on the first of three Fish errors. The Fish matched the Wings in the second with an Aaron Shoemaker (Finger Lakes CC) double, scoring Anthony Mashewske (Keuka College) and Hayden Ewell (Southern New Hampshire). The third inning saw the Fish take their first lead. Santino Rosso (Hofstra) and James Sciortino led off the top with a walk and single. Cody Cooper (Slippery Rock) followed with a two-run single for a 4-3 edge.

Ben Martin (St. John Fisher College) capped a two-run Wings third for a 5-4 lead. Shoemaker knotted the game with an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth. Shoemaker finished 2-for-2 on the day with three RBI. Cooper also had a multi-hit day going 3-for-4 with three RBI as well. The advantage of seven walks to score six of their runs.

LAKE MONSTERS 3
Jeff Wilson (LeMoyne) sparked a decisive four-run third inning as the Monarchs advanced to meet the Flyin’ Fish in the ICBL semifinals. Tied at two, William Porter led the third with a four-pitch-walk and scored two pitches later on Wilson’s drive. Wilson came home on a wild pitch. Tyler Broderick (Keuka College) reached on an error and eventually scored on a Noah Campanelli (St. John Fisher College) single. Marty Williams (St. John Fisher College) brought home Campanelli with a single for a 6-2 Monarchs lead.

Quin Ignaszak (Finger Lakes Community College) struck out six and walked two over five innings of work to pick up the win. Matt Adams worked out of bases-loaded jam in the sixth and notched the save.
Tyler Broderick (Keuka College) gave the Monarchs an early lead when he plated Dylan Broderick (Keuka College) and Porter with a single in the top of the first. Christian Montanez Roger Williams) tied the game in the second with a one-out base hit, driving in Jarod Signorelli (Elmira College) and AJ Nestler (Finger Lakes Community College).

Campanelli finished 3-for-4 in the game. Porter was 2-for-3. Nestler went 2-for-3 with a walk. Logan Martella-Tasick (Mercyhurst College) and Nate Sanderson (Hilbert College) both singled for the Lake Monsters. Matt Petrossi (Pikeville University) threw four innings of scoreless relief for the Lake Monsters on three hits and two walks.

The Lake Monsters won four of six head-to-head meeting during the regular season, including victories in the most recent three. The Monarchs, who lost to the Wings in the opening round of double-elimination tournament, will play the Flyin’ Fish on Thursday for a spot in the championship game.
