Emery lifts 19U in overtime; Selects Academy at BK take two more

IRVINE, CA — Mack Emery scored in overtime as the No. 8 seed Selects Academy at BK 19U squad defeated the host Anaheim Lady Ducks, 6-5 in the 2019 Chipotle USA – Hockey Nationals at the Great Park Ice and Sports Complex, Friday.

Lauren Bernard and Valérie Hache assisted on the game winner 3:28 into the extra period.

Caroline Harvey, who had an assist in Thursday’s win, led Selects with a goal and two assists. After trailing 3-1, Harvey’s short-handed goal 12:51 into the third period gave BK a 4-3. Emery assisted on Harvey’s tally.

Ellie Zweber opened the scoring with an assist from Harvey 4:47 into the the first period. Reagan Miller and Emma Conner both lit the lamp to even the score 13:54 into the second period.

Kiara Zanon tied the score at five with her second short-handed goal in as many games. Conner assisted on the play.

 

 

Ellie Reiter also picked up an assist. Haché finished with two assists.

Francesca Gerardi faced 19 shots on goals.

Selects will face Shattuck-St. Mary’s on Saturday. A 4:55 PM (PST) puck drop is scheduled at 5 Point Arena in the Great Park Ice and Sports Complex.

Laila Edwards converted a pair of power play opportunities and assisted on another goal to lead Selects Academy at BK 16U to a 4-2 victory over Dallas Stars Elite, Friday.

Edwards took a Haley Winn feed 11:18 into the first period and gave Selects a 1-o lead. Less than three minutes later, Edwards set up Sydney Wegner for an even-strength goal.

Dallas cut the margin in half 7:01 into the second period, but Edwards responded five minutes later with an assist from Kirsten Simms. Riley Calhoun added an empty-net goal for the final margin of victory.

 

 

Bailey Callaway made 28 saves for Selects Academy.

Selects Academy will play the Bay State Breakers on Saturday. A 2:55 start time is slated from 5 Point Arena.
