Brockport falls twice to Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team travelled to Bard College on Sunday for a double header. The Golden Eagles came up on the wrong end of both game unfortunately, losing game one by a score of 4-3, before dropping game two 10-5.


  • The Green and Gold move to 3-3 on the year
  • The Raptors opened their year with a mark of 2-0


Game One: Brockport 3 – Bard 4 (7 inn.) 

  • The Golden Eagles fell behind in the third inning, 2-0, but quickly answered in the top of the fourth
  • Anthony Eaton singled through the left side to score Tom Kretzler and cut the deficit to 2-1
  • The Raptors scored two more runs in the sixth inning to jump ahead 4-1
  • The Green and Gold mounted a comeback in the top of the seventh loading the bases on walks by Charlie SerinoLou Miceli and a walk by Kretzler
  • A sacrifice fly by Ryan Voight brought the score to 4-2
  • One batter later, Eaton singled to left field to score Kretzler again and cutting the deficit to 4-3
  • Brockport stranded the tying run on second as they fell 4-3

Game Two: Brockport 5 – Bard 10 (7 inn.) 

  • Aaron Cook go the scoring started with a single to center field that scored Ryan Mansell and Eaton to bring the score to 2-0
  • In the third inning, Miceli scored on a wild pitch that grew the advantage to 3-0
  • The lead disappeared in the bottom of the third as the opposition knocked in six runs
  • Serino was able to get the team back on the scoreboard with a base hit up the middle that scored Mansell and cut the deficit to 8-4
  • The final score for the Golden Eagles came in the seventh inning when Matt Van Allen hit a sacrifice fly to right field that was far enough to bring in Liam O’Leary


  • Trevor McCarthy recorded his first loss of the season, going 5.0 innings and surrendering two earned runs on seven hits and striking out one in 72 pitches
  • In game one Eaton finished 3-for-4 with two RBI
  • Miceli and Mansell combined to go 4-for-6 with a double, three runs scores and two walks in game two
  • Between both games Brockport left 19 batters on base


The Golden Eagles will travel to Hartford, Conn. on Sunday, March 10 when they battle the no. 11 ranked University of Southern Maine at 10 a.m. and Trinity College at 1 p.m.
