Responding to Edison Tech’s high-pressure defense and physical control of the paint, Ryan Lucey and Andre Starks took to the air, combining for seven three-pointers as the Fairport Red Raiders advanced to the Section V Class AA semifinals.
Lucey finished the evening with a team-high 18 points, 15 in the second half alone, while Starks added 11 points.
The game proved to be a back-and-forth contest early, and the Red Raiders and Inventors headed to the locker room knotted at 22 points apiece at halftime.
However, Fairport took command in the second half, outscoring Edison Tech 31-25 in the second half to capture the win.
Fairport is now set to take on University Prep on Tuesday, February 26 at Blue Cross Arena, seeking a trip to the Class AA final.
Brett Heininger added eight points, while Stefan Milinkovic had seven and Vanzell Johnson scored three. Jack Lindstrom, Max Molisani and Collin Espada each contributed two points.
Alton Knight topped Edison Tech with 24 points. Torrean Lewis added seven and Shaheem Ellis Jr. scored five. Mike Morgan, Edgar Bass IV and Javonte McKnight had three. Natrell Colbert contributed two.
