FAIRPORT RED RAIDERS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 16-6, lost in the Class AA semifinals

Coach: Scott Fitch (290-83/18th year)

Top returners: Vanzell Johnson (Sr. Guard), Andre Starks (Sr. Guard), Brett Heininger (Sr. Guard), Stefan Milinkovic (Jr. Forward), Ryan Lucey (Jr. Guard/Forward), Ryan Kennedy (Sr. Guard), Collin Espada (Sr. Forward), Colin Bucenec (Sr. Guard/Forward)

Top newcomers: Max Molisani (Jr. Guard), Jack Lindstrom (Jr. Guard), Kevin Gibson (Jr. Guard/Forward), Drew Johnston (Jr. Guard/Forward)

First game: Wednesday, November 28th vs. UPrep at Roberts Wesleyan College.

Outlook: After graduating major contributors from last season, the young Red Raiders will need fill their shoes quickly against a tough schedule. Can they fill the new roles successfully and put together a winning season?

HILTON CADETS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 11-12, lost in semifinals to UPREP

Coach: Troy Prince (145-142/15th year)

Top returners: Tahjae Hill (Jr. Guard – averaged 21.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game), Mitchell Carr (Sr. Forward – 13.8 points per game), Noah Malta (Sr. Point Guard), Colin Burkis (Jr. Guard), Najier Daniels (Jr. Forward), Joe Gombatto (Sr. Guard), Jack Gombatto (Sr. Guard)

Top newcomers: Ryan Kurtz (So. Forward), Jason Story (Jr. Guard), Sean Alabaugh (Jr. Guard)

First game: Friday, December 7th at Rush-Henrietta.

Outlook: A solid group of upperclassmen return to the court for the Cadets this season. Can they build off of their success at the end of last season to get off to a hot start?

PENFIELD PATRIOTS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 7-13

Coach: Jason Ellis (32-31/third year at the varsity level)

First game: Saturday, December 1st vs. Geneva.

Outlook: With no league titles or sectional titles in school history, Coach Ellis is marking this season as the beginning of a cultural change in Penfield. The Patriots are focused on establishing “a foundation built around individuals with discipline, desire, heart, and devotion to one another.” Will the cultural change bring about success this season and in the future?

RUSH HENRIETTA ROYAL COMETS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 15-6, lost in quarterfinals to Hilton
Coach: Chris Reed (380-206/27th year and 19th at Rush-Henrietta)
Top returners: Jevonte Williams (Jr. Guard – averaged eight points per game), Shamire Broyld (Sr. Forward – averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds in 11 games played), Tim Jackson (Sr. Forward – five points per game), Tyshaun Seawright (Sr. G/F), Francisco Lawson (6-foot-8 Center)
Top newcomers: Charles Bowden (Jr. Guard), Eddie Beverly (Jr. Guard), Quinn Hargrave (Jr. Guard/Forward), Nyles Goodwin (Jr. Forward/Center), Pat Sherron (Jr. Guard).
First game: Tuesday, December 4th at Gates-Chili.
Outlook:  The JV Royal Comets ended last season with two losses. Can they translate that to a tough varsity schedule?
The Victor Blue Devils will open their season against the Monroe Red Jackets in the Finger Lakes Tip-Off Tournament.

VICTOR BLUE DEVILS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 6-15, lost in the first round of sectionals to McQuaid

Coach: Tyler Roberts (40-59/fifth year)

Top returners: Matt Caggiano (Jr. Guard – averaged seven points and three assists per game), Connor Williams (So. Forward – averaged seven points and five rebounds per game)

Top newcomers: Will Stone (Jr. Guard), Will Tehan (So. Guard), Jaxen Roth (Jr. Guard), Chase Dickens (So. Guard), Phil Nwugwo (Fr. Forward)

First game: Thursday, November 29th vs. Monroe High (Finger Lakes Tip-Off Tournament at Canandaigua).

Outlook: The young Blue Devils’ season will depend on how they defend as a team. Will they mesh and perform on both sides of the ball to put together a great season?

WEBSTER SCHROEDER WARRIORS (Class AA)

Last season: Finished 7-15, lost in the second round of sectionals to McQuaid

Coach: Matt Spadoni (17th year)

Top returners: Kymere Meeks (So. – led the team in scoring with 11 points per game, averaged seven rebounds per game), Luke Insley (So. – averaged 45 percent behind the arc and eight points per game), Jojo Plummer (Jr. – averaged 18 points in the last three games last season), Colin Merkey (Sr. – averaged six assists per game), Josh Hauman, Colin Donnelly

First game: Friday, November 30th at Spencerport.

Outlook: All returners played important minutes last season, gaining valuable experience to implement this season. The core of the team, however, is still young. Will the Warriors core build off of last season and generate success?
