Ange brothers, Arilotta, Egan and O’Connor earn Monroe County top honors

Justin Arilotta led Hilton to a sectional title and back-to-back Division I crowns for the first time in program history. Colby Egan and Churchville-Chili claimed a share of the Division II championship. Sam O’Connor helped Brighton to a sectional title and a spot in the NYS Class semifinal. Dylan Ange and Parker Ange led Greece Odyssey to its first divisional championship and top seed in sectionals. For their excellence, the five garnered Player of the Year honors as voted upon by Monroe County boys’ soccer coaches.

Arilotta scored 11 goals and collected five assists for the Cadets (15-2-2, 9-1). The midfielder garnered First Team honors after Hilton’s Division I title in 2017 after a decade-old drought. As a senior, Arilotta led his team to another title, while leading Division I scoring.

Cadets joining Arilotta on the Division I First Team are Tommy Callery (defender; four goals, one assist), Noah Malta (midfielder; two goals, four assists), and Jack Gombatto (defender; two goals, one assist). Fairport’s Brandon Manz (defender; one goal, three assists), Alex Christidis (defender; one goal, one assist), sophomore Jude Rouhana (midfielder; five goals, three assists), and Will Hughes (44 saves, 0.293 goals-against average) earned first team nods. Hughes’s 0.293 goals-against average topped Monroe County goalies. For Rush Henrietta, Bill Urbanski (midfielder; one assist) and Curtis Rowe (forward; six goals, three assists) landed on first team. Penfield’s Jackson Vogt (midfielder; four goals, five assists), Webster Schroeder’s Alex Ortiz (forward; nine goals, two assists) and Colin Merkey (midfielder; six goals, four assists) as well as Victor’s Ethan Ashe (defender; one assist) rounded out the Division I honors.

Egan was a prime contributor to Churchville-Chili’s (17-3-0) dominant offense. The midfielder knocked in 13 goals and marked ten assists during his senior campaign to take Division II player of the year honors.

Egan is joined by three of his high-scoring teammates on the first team, including the Division II lead scorer Dylan Rippe (forward; 19 goals, ten assists) as well as Andrew Vannest (midfielder; 13 goals, 11 assists) and Mario Cozzo (midfielder; 12 goals, nine assists).

The Saints shared the 2018 Division II league title with Spencerport. Representing the Rangers are Ajan Rajamohan (midfielder; one goal, five assists), Justin Hockenberger (forward; 11 goals, three goals), Max LaRosa (forward; nine goals, five assists) and Jadon Schlierf (78 saves, 0.744 goals-against average). Gates Chili’s Kristian Annibali (midfielder; seven goals), Irondequoit’s Keegan VanKerkhove (midfielder; five goals) and Cole Senecal (defender; one goal, one assist) along with Webster Thomas Titan Cameron Webb (defender; one goal, one assist), and Canandaigua’s John Herrick (forward; 12 goals, two assists) and Aden Forcier (forward; six goals, two assists) join the co-champs on the first team.

Brighton earned the Division III title, Section V Class A crown and advanced to the NYS semis beating Williamsville in the Far West Regional Championship game. The Barons filled in four spots on the first team, including the player of the year. O’Connor, a senior midfielder with ten goals and three assists. O’Connor’s scoring counterpart Connor McQuillan landed a spot on the first team with his ten goals and seven assists. Caio De Medeiros (attack; eight goals, ten assists) and Luke Charlesworth (defender; two goals, two assists) round out the Barons’ first-teamers.

Greece Athena and Pittsford Sutherland filled out the team with three players each. C.J. Takatch (midfielder; seven goals, one assist), Othman Belhsiene (attack; 15 goals, 11 assists), and sophomore Dylan Rice (midfielder; nine goals, three assists) represented Athena. Sutherland’s young stars garnered the honors with sophomore Dylan Kladstrup (midfielder; eight goals, 12 assists), sophomore Nik Riewe (midfielder; ten goals, four assists), and junior Will Bowen (midfielder; 11 goals, six assists). Division III leading scorer and 2017 Division II Player of the Year Tyler Lewandowski earned a spot with his 24 goals and five assists for Greece Arcadia. His teammate Ryan Karker landed a spot as well. Brockport’s Calvin Moulton (defense) and Mendon’s Matthew Bamford (forward; 16 goals, three assists) rounded out Division III’s First Team.

Twin brothers Dylan and Parker Ange led Greece Odyssey (14-4-0) to its first division title and the programs first No. 1 seed. Dylan Ange’s 27 goals on the season led all of Monroe County and landed tenth in Section V. Parker Ange played solid, game-changing defense, while tallying three goals and eight assists.

Two of their teammates landed on the elite squad as well, Josh Haff (midfielder; two goals, one assist) and Kyle Pezzulo (goalkeeper; one assist, 142 saves, 0.824 goals-against average). Joining them are three Eastridge Lancers (7-9-1): Mohamed Assefa (midfielder; nine goals, five assists), sophomore Alex Wood (midfielder; five assists), and defender Jacob Lynch. Batavia’s Mathew Grover (forward; ten goals, five assists) and Liam Miller (midfielder; two goals, three assists), Greece Olympia’s Gidyon Chane (midfielder; seven goals, four assists) and Martin Erdal (midfielder; ten goals, five assists) along with HF-L’s Jack Emerson (forward; four goals, six assists) earned spots on the Division IV First Team.
