ST. LOUIS – Four Billikens scored in double figures Saturday night as Saint Louis registered a 62-58 victory over Troy at Chaifetz Arena.
SLU moves to 2-0 with the victory, while Troy dips to 1-1.
Tramaine Isabell Jr. led the way for the Billikens, scoring 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field – including a pair of treys – and 6-of-9 from the stripe. Jordan Goodwin posted 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. Javon Bess (11 points) and Carte’Are Gordon (10 points) also scored in double figures for SLU.
The Billikens were playing catch-up most of the night. Troy went up 29-16 with 3:30 remaining in the first half. However, SLU chipped away at the deficit as a Bess 3-pointer sparked a 7-0 SLU run to close the half.
SLU came out hot in the second half and used an 8-0 run to tie the scored at 31-all. Troy quickly regained the lead and did not relinquish it until the final five minutes of the contest.
Saint Louis used the three-ball to spark the comeback. Isabell, Wiley, Bess and Goodwin all buried triples and the Billikens built a six-point lead with a minute-and-a-half remaining. SLU survived down the stretch to register the four-point win.
Next up for the Billikens is a matchup against North Alabama on Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
