Roberts women blown out as Bridgeport spoils senior day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women’s soccer team fell to the University of Bridgeport, 5-0 on Saturday in a rain-soaked senior day game.

The Purple Knights spent the majority of the day on the offensive side of the pitch resulting in the three first half goals. The first goal of the game came in the 27th minute by Maegen Doyle. Just two minutes later Bridgeport doubled their score off a goal by Andrea Basilicato. The third goal of the half came at the 34:59 mark by Sara Berglund.

In the second half Bridgeport added two additional goals in the 46th minute and 54th minute. Marieke Kramer picked up her first goal of the game and Basilicato added her second goal of the contest.

Kelsey Brinkel (Aquinas) made five saves in net in her 45 minutes of play while Madison Lamarche posted two saves in the second half.

Roberts Wesleyan ends the season with a 5-9-2 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the East Coast Conference.
