Chase continues for RIT after loss

ITHACA, NY — The RIT (7-6-1, 3-5-0 Liberty League) men’s soccer team lost 1-0 at Ithaca College (11-2-3, 4-2-2 Liberty League) Wednesday afternoon in Liberty League action from Carp Wood Field.

With the loss, RIT remains at nine points in the Liberty League standings, one shy of Skidmore and Clarkson for sixth place. RIT needs to win its regular season finale at Union Saturday and have both Skidmore and Clarkson either tie or lose.

Shots were 10-9 in favor of Ithaca, with the Bombers firing six shots on net to three for RIT. The Tigers took six corner kicks to eight for Ithaca. Will Sokol (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) took the loss in net for RIT, making five saves. Max Lichtenstein got the win for Ithaca, making three saves.

After a scoreless first half, Ithaca scored the eventual game-winner in the 62nd minute when Jon Kyriakisis scored off an assist from Thomas Pierce.

RIT closes out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Union College. Kick-off from Schenectady, N.Y. is 2 p.m.
