Monroe County III STILL has 3 undefeated teams as Arcadia, Canandaigua and Irondequoit are all 5-0. Unfortunately none are scheduled to play each other in the regular season; but there will surely be matchups in sectionals. Break up the dynasty — Greece Olympia/Odyssey wins second in a row after not winning since 2015. Hilton wins 4th straight.
RCAC
McQuaid controls its destiny after beating Wilson. East-Wilson resume their game Tuesday; If East wins, it sets up a McQuaid-East championship game in Week 7.
INDEPENDENTS
HFL wins on a miracle hook-and-ladder pass on the last play of the game. Aquinas drops its first game of the year.
FINGER LAKES
Penn Yan has miracle comeback against Newark to set up a Wayne-Penn Yan tilt for the FL East title this week. Dundee wins 3rd straight, setting up a FL West title game this weekend vs. Mynderse. Pal-Mac snaps a 12-game losing streak.
LIVINGSTON COUNTY
Batavia remains perfect in convincing fashion. Alexander gets tested but still perfect.

Wide receiver John DiSalvo caught four passes for sixty yards and two touchdowns as Canandaigua (No. 22 NYSSWA Class A)dominated Gates-Chili at Saint John Fisher College. Running back Brenden Shay had 8 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown. His fellow running back mates Casey Herod and Zach Wantuck each contributed a touchdown as well. Herod carried the ball twice for 57 yards while Wantuck finished with 12 carries for 93 yards. Wide receiver Mitch Pfeiffer had 3 catches for 27 yards and took a kickoff return 81 yards to the house for a touchdown. For Gates-Chili, Traylan McCray had the first score of the game on an 89-yard kickoff return in the first quarter.

Fairport’s Dante Coccia rushed for 114 yards on 22 carries and scored 1 TD while QB Mike Pellittiere completed 5-of-10 passes for 114 yards and 3 TDs to lead the Red Raiders. and keep pace with the top-heavy Class AA Sectional. Nate Wigent split the uprights on 2 FG attempts from 27 and 31 yards.

In a battle of unbeatens, East ends UPrep’s undefeated season as Freddie Brock averaged 10 yards per carry (15-151) and scored 1 TD for the Eagles. Seven McGee had one TD and 11 tackles on defense.

Down 19-7 with 3 minutes left in the game, Honeoye quarterback Turner Wilson hit Derek Childs on a 35 yard TD pass to cut the deficit to 19-14. After getting a key stop on the defensive end, Honeoye then drove 80 yards in just over a minute with no timeouts left. On the last play of the game, the Cougars stunned OM as they scored the game-winning touchdown on a “Hook and Ladder” play from the 15 yard line.
The hook-and-ladder play started with a pass from QB Turner Wilson to WR Derek Childs who lateraled to RB Mason Ferrara who finished in the end zone.

FINGER LAKES

Quarterback Will Rogers went 19-for-32 for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns as Penn Yan (No. 19 NYSSWA Class C) stunned Newark late on the Red’s Senior Night.
A wild 4th quarter started with Penn Yan leading 20-19. However, the Reds scored 11 unanswered points and led 30-19 with less than 2:48 left. After scoring, Rogers completed 2-of-3 passes to go the 63 yards, including a 40-yard pass to Kyle Berna and then a 23-yard TD pass to Brennan Prather to pull to within 30-27 with 2:48 left.
The Mustangs then recovered the onsides kick, and needed just two plays before Rogers connected with Prather on the winning touchdown from 48 yards out with 2 minutes left.
Newark’s last minute drive was stopped by the Mustangs on downs at the Penn Yan 9-yard line.
Rogers ran for 2 of his 3 touchdowns as he ran 14 times for 43 yards as well. Wide receiver Brennan Prather caught 4 passes for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns. Connor Fingar contributed 3 catches for 13 yards and ran for eight yards. Berna also had 7 catches for 79 yards.
Newark QB Nic Bernardi finished 17-for-23 for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Tajh Greene carried the ball 10 times for 106 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Kenny Griffin had 4 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. Zach Ludolph had 4 tackles to lead Newark’s defense.

ER-Gananda’s Jayden Castrechini accounted for 203 total yards and 2 TDs but it was a late-game fourth-down stand that pushed the Bombers to a 24-20 homecoming victory over Finger Lakes East rival Geneva Saturday night. READ MORE.

Dundee won its 3rd straight game with an upset of Red Jacket (No. 5 NYSSWA Class D) in Finger Lakes West action. The loss came down to the last snap. Red Jacket’s Matt Record was 12-20 for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns, connecting with Adam Borst 7 times for 144 yards and a TD. Seth Gerlock ran for 81 yards and had receiving touchdown while Chase Rizzo caught 3 passes for 52 yards for the Indians.

In a battle of Blue Devils, the squad from Batavia (No. 9 NYSSWA Class B) shut down their rivals from Attica (No. 16 NYSSWA Class C), as Ray Leach topped the 200-yard rushing mark for the 3rd consecutive game. His 280-yard rushing/32-yard receiving/4-TD game was too much for Attica to contend with. In the last three games, Leach has 781 yards rushing.

Pembroke’s Trevor Vaughn picked off 4 passes on the afternoon, none bigger than ending Notre Dame-Batavia’s (No. 7 NYSSWA Class D) undefeated season. His last interception snuffed out the Irish’s last drive with seconds left in the game.

Running back Bryce Yockel scored all three touchdowns for Caledonia as they held off Avon on the road to win, 20-14. Yockel scored two of his three touchdowns in the second quarter to help his team build a 14-0 lead. He finished the game with 34 carries for 271 yards. For Avon, running back Nate Freeman had 26 carries and ran for 104 yards and scored both of their touchdowns, including one with 7:30 remaining in the game to bring his team close.

Nate Swede had 10 carries for 120 yards and accounted for 3 TDs as York crushed Cuba-Rushford 44-14. His fellow running back mate Sebastian Hackett contributed 11 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown as the team led wire-to-wire and built a 36-0 halftime lead. Quarterback Matt McFarland was a perfect 5-for-5 for 91 yards and 1 TD. On defense, Riley Elliot and Luke Maggio each had eight tackles and a sack. Keith Muckle had seven tackles while Josh Davis finished with six tackles and an interception.
