RCAC key matchups top this week’s slate of games

With three weeks left, the RCAC is a three-team horse race. By Tuesday night, things will be a little clearer.

 #16 Wilson (3-0) at #13 McQuaid (4-0), 7 pm Friday

The Wilson defense will be tested against the balanced Knight offense, which not only can put points on the board – 42.5 per game – but comes with a balanced attack featuring QB Hunter Walsh and all-purpose back Mark Passero.

Wilson counters with a defense that has allowed just 7 points (not including the 6 points allowed in the first half of its suspended game versus East) including two shutouts. Offensively, Desi Floyd Jr. will be the key to the Wildcats’ success.

East (3-0) vs UPrep (4-0), 5 pm Friday, Marina Auto Stadium

UPrep is coming off a convincing 58-0 win over Bishop Kearney/Rochester Prep and puts its magical undefeated season on the line against the Eagles in this non-conference tilt. The speedy Eagle squad can’t look past this game to its Tuesday matchup with Wilson

East (3-0) vs #16 Wilson (3-0), 5 pm Tuesday, Marina Auto Stadium

If Wilson and East both win tonight, the winner of Tuesday’s game has a leg-up heading into the final two weeks of the RCAC season.

#16 Attica (3-1) vs #9 Batavia (4-0), 7:30 pm Friday

Attica’s offense will have to get back on track after being stonewalled in a 6-0 loss to Livonia last week. Even moreso to keep the ball out of Batavia’s Ray Leach, who has rushed for 501 yards the last two games, including 324 last week.

Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington DC) (3-1) at Aquinas (4-0), 12 pm Saturday

Aquinas once again steps not only out of the section, but out of state as they host Friendship. AQ’s defense will have to step up against FCA, which lost 27-18 last week against nationally ranked DeMatha (Baltimore). Irish QB Tyler Szalkowski is coming off a 474-yard, 7-touchdown passing day.

Greece Athena (2-2) at Greece Arcadia (4-0), 2 pm Saturday

The Titans are a surprising 4-0 and will have to contend with the Trojans speed in this battle for Grecian supremacy.
