The Green and Gold looked to keep their win streak alive with a weekend sweep at SUNY Potsdam. The Golden Eagles started this game with some early offensive action, Ayub Jeylani (World of Inquiry) forced the Potsdam goalkeeper to make a save on a header at the 15′ minute mark, then Chris Kinsley challenged the Potsdam net but was turned away. Brockport brought their speed and skill into the second half, starting with some early offensive chances, all of which were turned away. Then at the 62′ minute, Connor Desantis threaded the needle on passing play that split the Bears defenders and sent Jeylani in on a one-on-one matchup with the Potsdam goalkeeper, Jeylani beat the goalie for his team-leading seventh goal of the season, advancing Brockport, 2-0.
“A dominate performance as we defended collectively and won our individual challenges,” said head coach Gary Lapietra “Our attack was relentless all day, particularly with our combination play, it was a great weekend to open conference play.”
The Green and Gold are back in action Friday, Sept. 28 when they travel to SUNY Fredonia for a 4 p.m. matchup.
