One game is for supremacy.
The other game is for bragging rights.
Both will sure to please.
#7 Irondequoit (3-0) at #3 Victor (3-0), 7 pm Friday
At 7 pm the Eagles and Blue Devils put their perfect records, Top 7 state rankings, and Class A superiority on the line when they take the field in Victor.
It’s actually a perfect matchup between two teams that have potent offenses and stingy defenses.
Third-ranked Victor (3-0) has scored more 41 points in each of its last two games, while defensively the Blue Devils have allowed just 20 all season, including a shutout of Pittsford in the opener. Veteran QB Hudson Alread’s accuracy to his main threat Kordell Jackson can be deadly, while the speed of Raushawn Baker could cause the IQ defense fits.
Seventh-ranked Irondequoit (3-0), has also scored more than 41 points in each of its last two games, and sports a defense giving up just 13 points a game. Offensively, the Eagles are led by all-everything QB Freddy June, Jr. – who has accounted for 9 touchdowns the last two weeks. Defensively, IQ is led by Cameron Martin, James Clements and Nick Serce.
Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen (2-1) at LeRoy (1-2), 7 pm Friday
The CM-LeRoy dates back to 1900 and over the years there have been some memorable contests. Two small towns that turn into ghost towns when this game is played.
Added incentive? Last year CM/BB upset LeRoy in the Class C Sectional Playoffs enroute to its Sectional crown. Don’t let the records fool you. LeRoy lost a heart breaker last week to a salty Attica squad and is looking to get back on track.
Get there early; games usually are played in front of standing-room only crowds.
Cameron Martin, James Clements and Nick Serce.
#18 Livonia (2-1) at #13 Attica (3-0), 7:30 p.m. Friday
Both teams are ranked in this week’s state football polls – Attica at #13 in Class C (after being unranked last week) and Livonia #18 in Class B. Attica is a new member of the Livingston County league and is looking to put its mark on the conference. Livonia is a traditional power (finished as Class B runner up last year).
St. Joseph Collegiate (Buffalo) (1-2) at #5 Aquinas (3-0), 1 p.m.Saturday
Aquinas brings puts 3-0 record and #5 ranking on the line against the Marauders. What is in the St. Joe’s game plan to stop QB Tyler Szalkowski’s accuracy (35-for-47 for 593 and 8 TDs this season) and RB Caron Robinson’s threat to score any time he touches the ball? It’s the first home game of the season for the Lil Irish.
University Prep (3-0) vs. Bishop Kearney/Rochester Prep (2-1) at Marina Auto Stadium, 4 p.m. Saturday
Not only is this a matchup of two teams on the rise, but there’s an added element — UPrep coach Kala Gause and BK/Roc Prep coach Richard Gause are brothers. Who will have bragging rights at Thanksgiving dinner?
