A huge weekend kicks off with 26 games under the lights Friday and finishes up with a double-header at Marina Auto Stadium on Saturday.

The top games of this weekend:

East (2-0) at #18 Wilson (2-0) at Marina Stadium, 2 pm Saturday

A battle to give one team a leg-up in the race for RCAC and Class A supremacy. The key to this game is which defense will rise to the occasion. Each team can seemingly score at will with explosive play makers.

On the Eagles’ side of the ball RB Seven McGee is a threat to score anytime the pigskin lands in his hands and has crossed the goal line 5 times this season, while QB Anthony Gilbert’s accuracy is outstanding, completing 11-13 passes for 222 and two scores a week ago.

Wilson’s  triple threat of RB Desi Floyd Jr., WR Rickey Gamble Jr., and QB Deon Edwards can connect from anywhere on the field. A week ago, Floyd gained 132 yards, including a blistering 75-yard TD run on the first play, Gamble returned a punt 70 yards to the house and Edwards completed 7 of 9 passes for 102 yards and 1 score.

Both teams average 40 points per game while East’s Purple People Eaters have allowed just 2 touchdowns. The Wildcats meanwhile, has allowed just one touchdown.

So when it gets down to it: The team that shuts the their opponent down more will emerge victorious.

#19 Letchworth/Warsaw (2-0) at #10 Batavia (2-0), 7:30 pm Friday

A Livingston County contest featuring two teams set to make deep runs in their respective classes: Batavia and Class B and Letchworth/Warsaw in Class C. Batavia is looking to score on L/W which hasn’t been done yet this season.

#20 East Rochester/Gananda (1-1) at #15 Penn Yan (2-0), 7:30 pm Friday

ER/Gananda bounced back from a heart-breaking overtime loss in week one to beat Waterloo, but the Bombers will have to contend with the free-wheeling Penn Yan offense, which lights up the night through the air. Mustang QB William Rogers has been prolific in the two games this year, completing 55 of 76 passes for 644 yards, including 30 of 40 passes for 388 last week.

Churchville Chili (0-2) at #3 Victor (2-0), 7 pm Friday

Spencerport (1-1) at #7 Irondequoit (2-0), 6 pm Friday

Both Irondequoit and Victor have to be careful of these trap game. Debuting as the highest-ranked Section V team, the third-ranked Blue Devils can’t look past the Saints as they face #7 Irondequoit next week. Victor has blazed out of the gates the last two weeks against Pittsford (16-0) and Gates Chili (47-7), and it starts with their defense and end with the O-Line opening holes for Rushawn Baker. The Eagles, meanwhile, will see if their defense front anchors of Cameron Martin and  Nick Serce can be as stingy as they were last week vs. Athena to set the table for QB Freddy June Jr., and his offense.

#5 Aquinas (2-0) at #28 Canisius (1-1), 2 pm Saturday

This is a battle of Class AA titans in an intersectional contest. Canisius will have its hands full with Aquinas’ multi-threat offense, led by dynamic senior Caron Robinson and the accurate passing of sophomore QB Tyler Szalkowski. The Irish will have to keep an eye on the Crusaders’ all purpose back Joe Jamison, who had 331 all purpose yards last week against McQuaid, including a hat-trick of interceptions.
