BINGHAMTON — Caron Robinson showed why he is one of the most dynamic players in Section V and sophomore QB Tyler Szalkowski one of the young players to watch as the Aquinas Lil Irish blew out Binghamton (IV) 49-7 on the road.
Robinson scored three times, on runs of 27 and 94 yards, and connected with Szalkowski on a 56-yard scoring pass and finished with 121 yards on just two carries. Szalkowski was 5-for-5 on the day for 161 yards and three touchdowns. His other two scoring passes were hauled in by Kobe McNair, one for 35 and one for 49.
The defense did its part, holding Binghamton to 204 total yards and just 99 on the ground, while forcing 5 turnovers. Ben Visca had 2 interceptions to compliment Damon Montgomery who had one which he returned 35 yards to the house for a score. Benjamin also had 9 tackles and one forced fumble. Defensive tackle Marcus Cox led the way with 11 tackles for the Irish.

“The defense stepped up today and did a great job,” 2nd year AQ coach Derek Annechino said “We knew they were a good rushing team coming in and we stuffed their run game pretty good.”
Joe Broncho turned in a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points.
