Four different players scored first-half touchdowns as McQuaid took a 28-0 lead into the break and breezed for the opening win. Hunter Walsh completed 14 passes on 22 attempts for 152 yards including a an eight-yard strike to Connor Zamiara to stake the Jesuit Knights to a 7-0 lead less than eight minutes into the game. Mike Vongphachanh capped a six-play drive going seven yards for a 14-0 McQuaid lead. Quinn Bergeron recovered a fumble in the end zone, and Mark Passero scored on a six-yard rush for the halftime lead. Mark Passero finished with 58 yards on nine carries. Andrew Passero had 59 yards on six carries and one touchdown. Zamiara hauled in seven catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Beauchamp had four receptions for 38 yards. Andrew Passero led the McQuaid defense with six tackles. Mike Maloney and Ryan O’Mara chipped in with five tackles apiece. Aldrin Wilson added two sacks. Jaden Turner scored on a five-yard run to stake Irondequoit to a 7-0 lead with 7:18 to go in the first quarter. The Eagles went on to lead 14-10 at half and did not trail. Freddy June completed the scoring for Irondequoit, taking a QB draw 34 yards for a touchdown. Eastridge attempted to get a comeback going late, but a forced fumble and recovery allowed the Eagles to kill the final minute of play and secure the win.

Desi Floyd paced Wilson with 84 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while quarterback Deon Edwards threw for 68 yards on five completions and one touchdown (a 32 yard pass to Ricky Gamble), adding one rushing touchdown. Jervon Johnson, Dante McGowan and Jahmere Jones each had eight tackles for Wilson, and Sam Jackson contributed two sacks and a forced fumble. Wilson scored all 34 points in the first half.

BUFFALO — Monroe senior defensive back Devonte Mateo took it to the house 3 times from the defensive side of the ball — 2 by interception, 1 by fumble recovery return — to lead the Monroe Redjackets to a convincing 26-12 victory over Buffalo’s Cardinal O’Hara on the road Saturday. Monroe logged 5 total interceptions on the afternoon.

Tim Klotzbach threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while Zach Cocking picked up 82 receiving yards, one touchdown and converted two two-point conversions on passed from Klotzbach. Lucas Calarco and Dakota Sica each had nine tackles for Notre Dame.

On defense, Gates-Chili had three sacks and three interceptions. Greece quarterback A’lon Jenkins threw for 158 yards and one touchdown.

The Newark Reds overwhelmed Midlakes VCon both sides of the ball, cruising to a 44-0 win over rival Midlakes, it’s first shutout win since 2013. Newark (1-0) built a commanding 41-0 lead at halftime thanks to the arm of Nic Bernardi (5-for-6, 112 yards, 3 TDs) and the legs of Zach Landolph (8 touches, 78 yards, 2 TDs). Defensively, the stifling Reds limited Midlakes (0-1) to just 71 total yards, blocked 2 punts and forced 5 turnovers. Newark’s James Brownell had 10 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception.
