St. Bonaventure senior guard Matt Mobley has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference basketball Player of the Week for the week that ended Feb. 4.
Mobley earned the award for his performances in two road wins last week. He averaged 27 points and 7.0 rebounds over the two games and made 18 of 29 shots (62 percent) from the field including 9-16 (.562) from three-point range. Mobley was also 9-9 at the free throw line.
The guard from Worcester, Mass., began the week with a 35-point, 11-rebound double-double at George Mason, setting a new career high in scoring. He was 7-9 from three-point range against the Patriots.
Mobley followed that performance with 19 points and three rebounds at Duquesne. He was 7-of-14 (.500) from the field as the Bonnies outlasted the Dukes 84-81 for their fourth straight win.
Mobley’s play has helped St. Bonaventure turn a 2-4 start to conference play into a 6-4 record (16-6 overall) going into Wednesday’s home game against Saint Louis. This is his first A-10 Player of the Week award this season.
For the season, he is averaging 18.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Mobley has made 64 three-pointers, shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc.
