ST. LOUIS – Four Billikens scored in double figures, led by Javon Bess’ 17 points, as Saint Louis rolled to a 73-50 Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball victory over Fordham Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena.
It was the third win a row for Saint Louis, which improves to 13-11 overall and 6-5 in the A-10. The Billikens have already exceeded last year’s win total. Fordham dips to 7-15 overall and 2-8 in the league.
Bess added 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He was 5-of-12 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line to account for his 17 points.
Hasahn French also registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He was 5-of-7 from the field. French also recorded three blocks and is now eight swats away from the freshman record (51) for blocks in a season.
Jordan Goodwin finished one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. He stuffed the stat sheet by adding four steals, two blocks and a team-high five assists.
Jalen Johnson scored 14 points and drilled a pair of 3-pointers, while D.J. Foreman scored 12 points and brought down seven rebounds.
The Billikens continue to dominate the boards, out-rebounding Fordham 48-31. The 48 rebounds matched a season high and marked the second straight 40-plus rebound performance by Saint Louis.
SLU led for the majority of the game. A Johnson 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer sent SLU into halftime with a 37-18 advantage, the Billikens’ largest halftime lead of the season.
The Billikens maintained a double-digit lead through the second half and cruised to the 23-point win.
Saint Louis returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to face St. Bonaventure. Game time in St. Bonaventure, New York, is set for 6 p.m. (CT).
