Xavier’s Trevon Bluiett named to Midseason Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List

CINCINNATI — Xavier University senior guard Trevon Bluiett has been named to the midseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which is the United States Basketball Writers Association award for college basketball’s national player of the year. The Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented at a news conference on Friday, March 30, at the Final Four in San Antonio. Xavier graduate David West won the award in 2003.

This is the latest in a list of midseason awards for Bluiett, who is also on the midseason watch list for The Wooden Award. Bluiett was named midseason Second Team All-American by NBC Sports and Sporting News.

Bluiett , who is sixth in the BIG EAST Conference in scoring at 19.1 ppg., is just 13 points shy of becoming the fifth 2,000-point scorer in XU history.

No. 8 Xavier, 18-3 overall and 6-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, is coming off its third straight win, a 73-64 victory at then-No. 19 Seton Hall on Saturday.
