ROCHESTER ACADEMY 64
HAC 55
PITTSFORD — Rochester Academy’s Jevonny Brown scored 39 points to hold off the HAC Wolves 64-55 Tuesday night in non-league action. HAC had no answer for Brown, who netted 4 three-pointers, hit 7-11 free throws and netted 27 second-half points. For HAC, Ryan Hilton countered with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks, but it wasn’t enough as every time the Wolves got close, Brown scored to keep the Racers’ cushion.

After a sluggish start, HAC closed to 25-20 on a free throw by Xavier Israel seconds before halftime, and Rob Dorsey drilled a deep corner three pointer to open the second half, pulling the Wolves to within 2 at 25-23. Brown countered with 11 points in the third to push Rochester Academy to a 41-29 lead after three periods. A stifling Racer defense — which forced 27 turnovers for the game — thwarted the Wolves every chance it could.

But in the fourth quarter, Hilton and Israel led the charge back, scoring 12 and 8 points, respectively and the Wolves clawed back to within three at 49-46 on a conventional three pointer by Hilton. That was as close as HAC would get because Brown and answered with 16 fourth quarter points. The loss drops the Wolves to 5-4 while the Racers improved to 4-6. Also scoring for Rochester Academy was Trevon Stringer (9 points) and Spencer Burns (6 points). For the Wolves, Israel finished with 15 points 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Zitong Jin had 6 points.
