Section V Boys semi-finals: Class C1

No. 1 Byron-Bergen/Elba (15-1-1/8-1-1 Genesee League) vs. No. 4 Sodus (10-7-0/5-7-0 Wayne League)

How they got here: Byron-Bergen/Elba defeated No. 8 Gananda 3-0 in its quarterfinal match-up while Sodus beat shut out No. 13 Canisteo-Greenwood (6-0) and No. 5 Avon (3-0) in the first two rounds.

Season Series: This will be the first meeting of the season for the two teams.

Sodus has won its last four games, and Byron-Bergen/Elba has not lost a non-league game all season.

Names to Know: Byron-Bergen/Elba- Kylar Chambry (23 G, 12 A), Wade Thompson (14 G, 19 A) and Brandon Kropf (111 saves, 9 GA, .537 GAA).

Sodus- Will Lamar (17 G), Ryan DeBadts (12 A) and John Molisani (108 saves, 20 GA, 1.315 GAA).

Coaches: Kevin Hauck (Sodus), Ken Rogoyski (Byron-Bergen/Elba).

History 101 – Byron-Bergen/Elba lost in the finals last season while Sodus was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Williamson. The last titles for Byron-Bergen/Elba came in 2005 and 2006 in Class B. Sodus has yet to win a sectional title in soccer.

The match is set to begin on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Spencerport.

No. 2 Williamson (15-2-0/10-2-0 Wayne League) vs. No. 3 Holley (9-5-3/4-4-2 Genesee League)

How they got here: Williamson blanked No. 7 Marcus Whitman 6-0 in their first game to move on and face Holley, which eliminated Pembroke with a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals.

Season Series: The two teams will meet for the first time this year.

Holley has not lost since October 2 against Roy-Har while Williamson is a perfect 5-0 against non-league teams this year.

Names to Know: Williamson- Justin Eaton (21 G, 13 A)* and Marty Williams (97 saves, 19 GA, 1.304 GAA)

Holley- John Mounts (11 G) and Patrick Bower (81 saves, 15 GA, .951 GAA).

Coaches: Dan Orbaker (Holley), Jim Newby (Williamson).

History 101 – Williamson won three straight Class CC or Class C1 titles from 2011 to 2013. Holley won the 2006 Class CC title, their last soccer title to date. Both teams made it to the semi-finals last season, but neither moved on to the title game.

The game will be played at Webster-Thomas on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
