SHERRILL — Eddison Mercado went 4-for-5 with five RBI including two home runs as the Spartans took game one of a doubleheader. Jay Perry and Julian Gutierrez also finished with a pair of home runs. Joseph Westerman went seven innings allowing four runs on four hits. The right-hander fanned nine to pick up his second win of the season. Jake Coro finished with two hits for the Silversmiths.

SHERRILL — Chris Schad went 2-for-3 including two home runs. Micah Riddick also homered, and the Spartans took game two of a doubleheader. One of Schad’s home runs and Riddick’s homer jump-started the Spartans offense in the sixth as they tacked on nine runs. Eddison Mercado finished with three hits.

ROME — Arik Sypher pitched seven scoreless innings allowing five hits with nine strikeouts as the Generals took game one of a doubleheader. Markus Melendez got the Generals offense going with a double in the fourth that plated two. Clayton Jeffries went five innings allowing three runs on four hits. The left-hander finished with six strikeouts.

ROME — Jameson Carey went 2-for-3 including a run-scoring triple in the third as the Generals took game two of a doubleheader. Devin Springfield finished with two hits including an RBI single in the third. Reliever Desmond Grimes tossed two innings allowing one run on two hits. The right-hander fanned two to pick up his first win of the season.

SYRACUSE — Shannon Baker finished with two hits including a two-run single in the fourth as the Salt Cats held on to win their fourth straight. Kyle Taylor tossed six innings allowing one run on three hits. The left-hander finished with eight strikeouts to pick up the win. The Salt Cats moved into to a tie for first place with Cortland in the Eastern Division.

Hornell Dodgers (19-7) 7
HORNELL — Dominic Cecere went 4-for-4 including a single in the tenth that plated Ryan Grieco as the Nitros reached .500. Justin DiDonato went five innings allowing three runs on three hits with ten strikeouts. Michael Young recorded two hits for the Dodgers including a double in the bottom of the eighth that brought home Michael Harrison.

OLEAN — Olean’s Jacob Burlingame went 2-for-5 including a two-run single in the fourth. The Oilers scored five runs in both the fourth and seventh inning. Kirby McMullen finished with two hits including a single in the fifth that plated Navada Waterman. McMullen went five and a third inning allowing three runs on five hits. The right-hander fanned six to pick his first win of the season.
