PGCBL Roundup: Rivera and Reitz finish fight for Mohawks, Brookover and Stack outscore Trail Blazers; Rodriguez stings teammate

AMSTERDAM, NY– Freshman Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic University) hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 13th to send the Mohawks home with a 10th straight win. Freshman Brandon Reitz (Florida State) struck out 12 in six scoreless and hitless innings in relief for the Mohawks, earning the win. Junior Nathan Thyssen (Concordia University (Wisconsin)) drove in four RBI on two hits, including a three-run home run, for the Blue Sox. Incoming freshman Garret Keough (Holy Cross College) pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and six walks, striking out five.

NEWARK, NY– Freshman Over Torres (Yavapai College) knocked in two runs for the Pilots, snapping a six-game losing streak. Sophomore Henry Martinez (Cypress College) lasted six innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks, fanning seven. Freshman Jake Evans (Alabama Southern Community College) brought home two runs for the Red Wings. Freshman Slater O’Brien (Saint Joseph’s University) walked eight and let up four runs on four hits in five innings.

BOONVILLE, NY– Juniors Ben Brookover (University of Texas-San Antonio) and Collin Stack (UMBC/Monroe Community College) combined to plate 12 runs on five hits for the Jammers, who have won back-to-back games. Sophomore David Lyskawa (Niagara County Community College) set down 11 hitters by strikeout, holding the Trail Blazers to one hit and three walks over seven innings. Junior Kyle Cashman (Pace University) exited after five innings, surrendering six runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

ELMIRA PIONEERS (8-13) 12
ELMIRA, NY– Freshman Brett Rodriguez (Wofford College) went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Pioneers, handing the Outlaws a third straight loss. Sophomore Grant Donahue (University of Virginia) punched out nine and allowed three runs (one earned), five hits and two walks in five innings. Freshman Ben Rhodes (Siena College) drove in two runs with two hits for the Outlaws. Freshman Jake Hershman (Wofford College) made five-and-one-third innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and three walks, striking out five.
