PGCBL Roundup: Mattison sets tone for collegiate career, Red Wings put out Flames and Poore makes DiamondDawgs wealthy

GAME 1:
ONONDAGA FLAMES (12-7) 3
GENEVA RED WINGS (15-6) 8    in 7
GENEVA, NY– Freshmen Jake Evans (Alabama Southern Community College) and Justin Barr (Central Alabama Community College) each had two RBI in the Red Wings’ game one win. Junior Alex Bellardini (Youngstown State/Monroe Community College) pitched all seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Junior Kyle Gallagher (Ithaca College) drove in two runs with two hits for the Flames. Freshman Zach Kemp (Wells College) gave up eight runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks, striking out three.

GAME 2:
ONONDAGA FLAMES (12-8) 2
GENEVA RED WINGS (16-6) 7  in 7
GENEVA, NY– Redshirt sophomore William Hampson (Southwest Tennessee Community College/Victor) and sophomore Joseph Tassin (Bossier Parish Community College) combined for four RBI in the Red Wings’ seventh straight win. Freshman Domenic Nardone (Siena College) tossed four innings and let up one run on four hits and one walk. Freshman Anthony Scalzo (Gonzaga University) knocked in both runs for the Flames. Sophomore Brian Nolan (Oswego State) surrendered seven runs, seven hits and three walks, fanning four over four-and-two-thirds innings. Freshman Ryan Marketell (Monroe Community College/Webster Thomas) threw one-and-one-third scoreless, hitless innings in relief for the Flames.

AMSTERDAM MOHAWKS (15-6) 7
UTICA BLUE SOX (4-16) 4
UTICA, NY– Redshirt junior Liam Wilson (Canisius College) and junior John Valente (St. John’s University) produced five hits and four RBI between the two of them as the Mohawks won a ninth straight game. Freshman Mathieu Gauthier (NC State) held the Blue Sox to three runs (two earned), three hits and four walks, while striking out two in five innings. Sophomore Cole Pursell (Willamette University) contributed two RBI for the Blue Sox. Sophomore Dylan Leahy (Keystone College) exited after six innings with six runs (four earned) allowed on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

SAUGERTIES STALLIONS (10-9) 0
MOHAWK VALLEY DIAMONDDAWGS (12-6) 3    in 6
LITTLE FALLS, NY– Junior Crandell Poore (Middle Georgia State) hurled five-and-two-thirds scoreless innings, letting up two hits and two walks, fanning four before the game was ended, giving the DiamondDawgs a fourth straight win. Freshman Jason Antalek (Iona College) surrendered three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.

ONEONTA OUTLAWS (6-14) 1
GLENS FALLS DRAGONS (8-13) 6
GLENS FALLS, NY–Incoming freshman Tyler Mattison (Bryant University) punched out 10 over six innings, limiting the Outlaws to one run, three hits and three walks to hand them  second straight loss. Freshman Michael White (Stonehill College) left after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks, striking out four, in five innings of work.
