NYCBL Roundup: Martin entertains for Spartans, Johnson locks down Ridgemen win and Rapids outlast Dodgers

SYRACUSE, NY– Sophomore Stuart Martin (Monroe Community College) tossed eight scoreless innings with six hits and two walks allowed, striking out three to lead the Spartans to a fourth straight win. Junior Jason Hellwig (SUNY Brockport) lasted six innings for the Silversmiths, giving up one unearned run on three hits and two walks while setting down four batters via strikeout.

OLEAN, NY– Sophomore Tyler Johnson (Finger Lakes Community College/Churchville-Chili) pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the Ridgemen, who have won two straight games, letting up two hits and two walks, fanning four hitters. Sophomore Jake Miknis (St. Bonaventure University) hit a three-run home run for the Oilers. Junior Bradley Walter (Pennsylvania College of Technology) started for the Oilers, going five-and-one-third innings while surrendering four runs on 10 hits and striking out four.

GENESEE RAPIDS (5-6) 8

HOUGHTON, NY– Junior Riley Brandvold (University of the South) and senior Travis Ralls (Greenville College) each drove in two runs for the Rapids, who keep a third place spot in the Western Division. Senior Austin Marsh (Greenville College) punched out five batters over eight innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks. Sophomore Michael Young (University of Massachusetts-Lowell) and junior Connor Bailey (Willamette University) also knocked in two runs each for the Dodgers. Junior Jameson Moran (RIT/Geneseo) hurled eight innings, surrendering eight runs (two earned) on nine hits and one walks, striking out four.
