PGCBL Roundup: Darkness holds up finish, Jammers strike early and Red Wings hold on in extras

BOONVILLE, NY– Sophomore Camillo Spinoso (LeMoyne College) drove in two runs on two hits for the Flames in the extra innings win to bring them back to .500. Sophomore Emmett Dunn (Ithaca College) threw five innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Freshman Jonathan Hardy (Mohawk Valley Community College) started for the Trail Blazers, going four innings and giving up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

UTICA, NY– Freshman Josh Arnold (Fairfield University) let up one run on five hits and two walks, while striking out two, over two-and-one-third innings to help the DiamondDawgs draw even with the Blue Sox in the standings at 3-1. Junior Brent Kissinger (North Park University) tossed five innings for the Blue Sox, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

JAMESTOWN, NY– Junior Skyler Valentine (University of Texas-San Antonio) and freshman Matt Cross (Niagara Community College) each drove in two runs as the Jammers moved above .500 at 3-2. Sophomore Quinn Taylor (Felician University) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over four-and-one-third innings of work. while striking out one. Sophomore Jorge Leon (Hendrix College) went-2-for-4 with two RBI for the Pilots. Freshman Will Frank (Canisius College) exited after one-and-two-thirds innings, letting up seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks with one strikeout.

GENEVA RED WINGS (3-1) 8
ELMIRA PIONEERS (3-2) 7   in 10
ELMIRA, NY– Freshman Matt Chamberlain (University of New Haven) delivered the eventual game-winning run with a single in the top of the tenth, helping the Red Wings leap frog the Pioneers in the standings. Sophomore Jordan Murphy (University of Texas-Dallas) gave the Red Wings six innings and allowed three runs on six hits and two walks, but struck out four. Sophomore Blake Shinkle (Kansas University) brought home two runs on two hits for the Pioneers. Freshman Zach Eggers (Old Dominion University) threw five scoreless innings, giving up six hits and three walks while striking out three.
