GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 132 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 113 (GSW LEADS 2-0)
OAKLAND, CA – Kevin Durant compiled 33 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and three steals to help the Warriors take a 2-0 lead over the Cavaliers in coach Steve Kerr‘s first game on the sidelines after a six-week absence. Stephen Curry added a triple-double – 32 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Klay Thompson broke out with 22 points after struggling with his shot for much of the postseason.
The Cavs were within four points with 5:41 left in the third quarter, but the Dubs responded with a 13-2 run to take a 99-84 lead. From there, Golden State was able to pull away and take a lead as large as 21 points.
LeBron James earned a triple-double – 29 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds for the Cavs. Kevin Love chipped in 27 points and seven rebounds. Kyrie Irving had 19 points on 8-of-23 shooting from the field and seven assists.
The series shifts to Cleveland with the two teams set to take the court on Wednesday at 9 p.m. The Warriors, boasting a perfect 14-0 playoff record, could be the first team to sweep the entire postseason if they win the next two games. However, it should be noted that the Cavs were in the same spot down 2-0 in last year’s finals, and ultimately became the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in NBA Finals history.
