NYCBL Roundup: Rodgers and Crunch walk off; Salt Cats win in 13, and Testa gives Nitros a four pack

Syracuse Spartans (0-2) 4
Cortland Crunch (2-0) 5
CORTLAND — Joseph Rodgers rapped a pair of singles going 2-for-3 and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a wild pitch as the Crunch defeated the Spartans. Alex Flock also collected a pair of hits, including a double in the first inning.

Rome Generals (2-1) 4
Genesee Rapids (0-2) 3
HOUGHTON — Matthew Ogozaly retired the first five batters he faced. He lasted five innings, allowed just one run and recorded five strikeouts. The left-hander’s ERA is at a 1.80 to begin the season.

Wellsville Nitros (1-1) 8
Olean Oilers (0-2) 6
OLEAN — Christopher Testa finished 4-for-6 including a double in the eighth inning and an RBI single in the ninth as the Nitros won their first game of the season. Heath Brownley picked up the win. The reliever lasted four innings without allowing a run and struck out four batters.

Syracuse Salt Cats (2-1) 3
Rochester Ridgemen (0-3) 1
ROCHESTER — Matthew Nertz went 3-for-4 including a double in the ninth and a single in the 13th inning as the Salt Cats won in extra innings. Patrick Maybach gave up one run and fanned seven over five innings. Kyle Sanford struck out six and surrendered one hit over the last four innings for the win.
