CLEVELAND– Lonnie Chisenhall delivered a three-run home run during a five-run first inning in the Indians’ series opening victory. Carlos Carrasco struggled in his start, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks in just three-and-two-thirds innings before exiting with left pectoral tightness. Six different Rays players drove in runs including Brad Miller who finished the game 3-for-4. Chris Archer snapped his streak of three straight quality starts after going five innings and giving up seven runs (six earned) on five hits and six walks.
Atlanta Braves (14-21) 10
Toronto Blue Jays (17-22) 6
TORONTO– Matt Kemp went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to help snap the Blue Jays’ five game win streak. Bartolo Colon took the mound for Atlanta, earning his first win since April 16th, surrendering three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks. Justin Smoak and Devon Travis combined for five hits and four runs driven in for the Blue Jays. In his second start of the season, Mike Bolsinger failed to make it out of the fifth inning, letting up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks.
Houston Astros (27-12) 7

MIAMI– Yuli Gurriel and Jose Altuve used the long ball to power the Astros to their best start in franchise history. Joe Musgrove tossed five-and-two-thirds innings with one run, eight hits and one walk allowed. Justin Bour and J.T Riddle each had three hits and scored both runs for the Marlins. Dan Straily was dominant in his five innings of work, holding Houston to just one hit. However, his start got cut short after he was hit near his pitching elbow by a line drive off Evan Gattis‘ bat.
Arizona Diamondbacks (22-18) 7

PHOENIX– Yasmany Tomas plated three with a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Diamondbacks the edge. Starting in place of the injured Shelby Miller for the second time was Zack Godley. His final stat line read as six-and-two-thirds innings pitched, one hit, five walks and an earned run to go along with seven strikeouts. Rene Rivera finished 1-for-3 with an RBI single which ended up being the only hit the Mets could muster off of Arizona’s starter. On the hill for New York, Zack Wheeler nearly matched his counterpart by throwing six innings and allowing one run, seven hits and a walk while striking out six.
San Francisco Giants (16-24) 8
Los Angeles Dodgers (22-17) 4
SAN FRANCISCO– Eduardo Nunez picked up two hits and three runs batted in as the Giants defeated their in-state and division rival, the Dodgers. Matt Cain let up just one run on five hits and three walks in six-and-two-thirds innings. Cain has dominated against Los Angeles allowing just one run in twelve-and-two-thirds innings. He also became the first San Francisco pitcher since Gaylord Perry in 1970 to reach the 2,000 innings career mark. Chris Taylor led the Dodgers with three hits, a run scored and a run batted in. Brandon McCarthy got roughed up in his start as he got tagged for six runs on eight hits in five-and-two-thirds innings.
San Diego Padres (15-25) 6
Milwaukee Brewers (21-18) 5
SAN DIEGO– Hunter Renfroe provided the Padres with four RBI and also the walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th to give them a victory in the series opener. Luis Perdomo got saddled with his sixth straight no decision after going six innings and allowing three runs while striking out a career high nine batters. Domingo Santana had his third straight multi-hit game for the Brewers, going 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Chase Anderson took the mound for five-and-one-third innings, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks.
Los Angeles Angels (20-21) 5
Chicago White Sox (17-19) 3
LOS ANGELES– Each of the Angels’ five runs came courtesy of the home run including one off the bat of Mike Trout. With his dinger, he became the first Angel since 2012 to hit one in four consecutive days. On the mound, Jesse Chavez lasted seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk. Jose Abreu and Tyler Saladino kept the White Sox in the game with their runs batted in on the home run and triple, respectively. Mike Pelfrey remains winless after tossing four-and-two-thirds innings and giving up four runs on three hits and three walks.
Seattle Mariners (18-21) 6

SEATTLE– Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager combined to drive in four runs as the Mariners snapped a four game losing streak. With much of Seattle’s starting rotation on the disabled list, Yovani Gallardo had been looked upon to deliver a quality outing and he did just that. He picked up his second straight win after surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks in six-and-one-third innings. Leading the A’s were Stephen Vogt and Khris Davis who had two RBI apiece. Sean Manaea exited after five innings, having let up four runs on two hits and five walks.
