DENVER, CO– Mark Reynolds drove in three runs and had three hits for the Rockies, who claimed game one of the doubleheader. Jake Arrieta made it only three-and-two-thirds innings for the Cubs, allowing nine runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks.

Max Scherzer struck out 11 batters in eight innings of work, letting up two runs on four hits and two walks.

Jerad Eickhoff matched Miranda’s struggles, letting up five runs, eight hits and three walks in three-and-two-thirds innings.

Matt Andriese started for the Rays, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks in five-and-one-third innings.

OAKLAND, CA– Yunel Escobar led the Angels with four RBI to leapfrog the A’s in the AL West standings. Alex Meyer allowed three runs on four hits and five walks in five-and-one-third innings to earn the win. Yonder Alonso hit two home runs to drive in all three of the A’s runs. Jharel Cotton surrendered seven runs, eight hits and one walk in five innings.

LOS ANGELES, CA– Austin Barnes hit a pinch hit, walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th, giving the Dodgers four straight wins. Julio Urias held the Pirates to one run, one hit and two walks in six-and-one-third innings of work. Ivan Nova also went six-and-one-third innings, letting up two runs on seven hits and two walks. Chris Bostick (Aquinas) got his first MLB start and went 0-for-1 with a walk for the Pirates.
